Get your National Electrical Code Certificate - at home, at your own pace with the Continuing Education Center.

The Continuing Education Center National Electrical Code 2008 Certificate Program provides a comprehensive overview of the purpose, structure, and technical language of the National Electrical Code.® This program will be useful for engineering technicians, electrician’s assistants, maintenance technicians, general contractors, artisans and technologists looking to broaden their understanding of the National Electrical Code.®

Students considering this certificate program should have an understanding of basic electrical concepts and some previous experience with electrical devices, wiring, calculations, and basic print reading.

Program Outline

Here's how it works
Your certificate program consists of courses designed to take you step-by-step toward understanding all the essential elements of the code. Your first course will be sent to you as soon as your enrollment has been accepted. Other courses will follow as you complete your exams, so that you will always have study materials to work with.

You will need access to a Microsoft® Windows®-based computer (running Windows Vista or later) and the Internet in order to complete your program with the Continuing Education Center.

You must complete the following courses in the order indicated to earn your National Electrical Code® 2008 Certificate.

EET 075 - Understanding and Applying the National Electrical Code®

Students will gain an understanding and appreciation of the National Electrical Code.® This course provides in-depth coverage of all the essential elements of the code including terminology, structure, and specific applications and interpretations including: calculating conductor fill, GFCI requirements, load calculations, grounding rules, voltage drop calculations, and wiring requirements for hazardous locations. The student will also learn code variables based on single-family and multi-family classifications, residential and commercial classifications, as well as code requirements specific to health-care facilities.
