Program Overview

Develop the skills and learn the techniques of a trained photo image editor with the Continuing Education Center.

The Continuing Education Center Adobe® Photoshop® Certificate program helps you learn quickly and conveniently. Students learn how to use the Photoshop software to create multimedia products such as print brochures, dynamic graphics, animation, Web sites, video, and interactive CD-ROM content.

Your program comes with the books, materials, and study guides you need. You’ll learn:

  • Image Editing 1 & 2
  • Using Print and Web-Based Graphics
  • Graphic Design 1 & 2

You’ll also receive Adobe® Photoshop® software at no additional cost.

Program Outline

Instruction Sets
Your program consists of two Instruction Sets designed to take you step-by-step through the techniques and skills you'll use professional image editing.

Here's how it works
Your first Instruction Set is sent immediately after your enrollment has been accepted. Your next Instruction Set will follow as you complete your projects, so you will always have training materials to work with.

Computer specifications
You will need access to a Microsoft® Windows®-based computer to complete this program. The Continuing Education Center recommends the following as minimum specifications: Pentium® IV, Centrino®, Xeon®, CoreTM Duo or better, Windows® XP (sp2), or Vista® as the operating system with 512 MB RAM minimum (1 GB recommended), 2GB available hard drive space, and DVD ROM drive.  You will also need Internet access and an email account.

Here is an overview of what you'll learn and the order in which you'll receive your lessons:

GRD130 - Photo Image Editing 1 (Photoshop)

Photo Image Editing 1 begins coverage of Adobe® PhotoShop® in regard to the production of print and Web-based graphics. The students learn how to use the PhotoShop software and apply smart design principles to multimedia products such as print brochures, dynamic graphics, animation, Web sites, video, and interactive CD-ROM content.

GRD135 -Photo Image Editing 2

Photo Image Editing 2 focuses on visual communication through diverse theme-based projects where issues of representation and meaning production are emphasized. It also addresses main design notions such as visual organization, information hierarchy, and typography.

Online Library and Librarian
Students in the Continuing Education Center have access to an online library for use during their studies. Students can use this library to do the required research in the courses they complete or can use it for general reference and links to valuable resources. The library contains helpful research assistance, articles, databases, books, and Web links. A librarian is available to answer questions on general research-related topics via email and to assist students in research activities during their studies with the Continuing Education Center.
